Francisco Jose Garzon, the driver of the train that derailed in northwestern Spain on Wednesday, has been officially detained. According to REUTERS/Oscar Corral, the 52-year-old driver knew immediately that he screwed up and asked what to do, "I've derailed." "What do I do?" "What am I supposed to do?" He then reportedly told rescuers: "I f----d up. I want to die."
The train was said to have sped of up to 118 mph (190 km/h) instead of its normal limit of 50 mph (80 km/h) at the curve approaching the station at Santiago. Spain Presidente del Gobierno, Mariano Rajoy Brey, had declared a-3-day mourning in honour of victims of the train crash. Hmm! quite a pity.
