Last Bus Stop For Malaria Is Here...

Peter Piermarini, an Assistant Professor of Entomology, who is as well a Researcher at the Ohio State University with his collaborators, has earlier last month announced that "our team has found a chemical that interferes with the function of a class of mosquitoes' protein called 'potassium channels, and which compromises the ability of mosquitoes to excrete urine. In addition to blocking their kidney functions, the chemical leaves mosquitoes unable to fly".
This chemical they discovered, may pave the way to the development of new insecticides to fight fatal mosquito-transmitted diseases such as malaria and dengue fever, the report said.

Mother Of Peace; From Office Of The First Lady, State House, Abuja, Came This Statement:-

Dame Patience Jonathan
“This office wishes to call on all feuding parties in Rivers State to spare a thought for the social, political and economic costs of the crisis, and consider an urgent way to resolve all political differences.
“It is our position that the greater consequences of the impasse is, as usual, reserved for the poor, the weak and the vulnerable, especially women and children, who are usually innocent bystanders in all these.
“This derives naturally from the saying that when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers. On a larger scale, we subscribe to the fact that conflicts and violence are the most lethal threats to peace, which itself is the irreducible minimum condition for development.
“The situation must therefore not be allowed to degenerate to a level that can be hijacked by miscreants and hoodlums, thus exposing everyone to insecurity from which there may be no easy escape.
“We, therefore, call on elders of the state to position themselves appropriately in the circumstances, and continue to seek the highest good of Rivers state and its people, by stone-walling the activities of the few who would rather fan little embers into a consuming inferno.”
The statement was signed by Ayo Osinlu, Special Assistant (Media) to the President, Office of the First Lady.

May GOD Help APGA To Rise Again: Chief Victor Umeh of APGA Had Been Reinstated As The Party's Chairman By Appeal Court...

In a lead judgement as was delivered by Justice Tom Yakubu and in accord by Justice Paul Galinje (who is the chairman) and Justice Modupe Kwasami, all in the Appeal Court Panel, Chief Victor Umeh has been granted all the four reliefs sought by him, the appellant. In his ruling on the case against the APGA chairman filed by an expelled member of the party in Enugu State, Mr. Jude Okuli, ordered  the removal of Umeh on the ground that his tenure expired in 2010. He went further to declare the November 10, 2011 national convention of the party held in Awka where Umeh and other NWC members were re-elected as unconstitutional and urged the party to conduct fresh convention for election of her national officers, the Enugu Appellant court however, resolved all these in favour of Chief VIctor Umeh.
These came to pass, after several months of legal battle over who is or should be the authentic chairman of this great party, APGA - All Progressives Grand Alliance. Some of the party's stalwarts had since been congratulating Chief Umeh on his victory at the court.
Meanwhile, the jubilant Umeh with members of the party's National Working Committee immediately after the judgement, moved straight to Ojukwu's grave yard in Nnewi to dedicate his victory and he said; " Our leader, we have come to tell you that we are back again. We have come to invoke your spirit once again. Members of APGA' NWC are here, those of them that are loyal to your course".

Incredible! A Teenager Whose Face Was Burned Off From Mum's Cigarette Fire...

Terry Calvesbert
Terry Calvesbert, who now lives with her father Paul and stepmother Nicky, would have died long ago from a 90% burn after her mother accidentally left a lit of cigarette in her bedroom, which led to the fire outburst that had kept her look the way it is right now.
This happened when she was only 23 months old. According to dailymail.co.uk report, only the patch of skin protected by her wet nappy got away the burns. Even doctors could not believe she would be alive up till now. She lost her hair, nose and eyelids. The fire fighters that attended the scene, thought they had found a 'charred doll'. She is said to have had more than 50 painful operations since the unforgettable encounter with that raging fire, to stretch her scarred skin.
Thank goodness that she's still alive, 16 years old now, kits herself properly with blonde wig, enjoys herself by joining her mates to attend their school prom even as, her mother abandoned her immediately after the incident with an excuse that she felt guilty of the whole ugly event.
