ASUP STRIKE OVER: POLY LECTURES BACK TO THE CLASSROOM AGAIN...

We recall that for quite sometime now, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) had been on strike. Glad to let you know that the strike has been called off yesterday following a concrete achievement the parties involved had made in their negotiation with government, coupled with the intercession of the Joint Senate and House of representatives' Committees on Education.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman, said they decided to call off the strike following yesterday's emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, while the Polytechnic lecturers, in a statement issued yesterday also, said they suspended the strike to allow more time for the relevant stakeholders to exhaust all the issues raised in the union's demand. They nonetheless, requested all parties involved in the negotiation to adhere strictly to the agreement reached so far, in order to avert further breakdown of academic activities in the polytechnics.
