Rabbi Ovadia Yosef died at age 93 today (7th October, 2013) after complications with kidney surgery and a 'total failure of body systems.' He founded ultra-orthodox party Shas in 1984 to support marginalised Jews from Middle East and Northern Africa. Shas leader Arye Deri, now in opposition, wept: 'What will become of us? Who will lead us? Who will take his place.' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended and made a statement expressing 'deep sorrow' for 'wisest man.'
